And our ward mission leader Tiago got his mission call to Cape Verde :) yaaaa cachupa!!!! Still enjoying the nice weather here!! A man asked me to marry him... creepy.
The mission is full of adventures! 😂

Setubal - Week 8

BOM DIA ALEGRIA!

This week I got a companion... and she is going to stay. Sister Vanaquer is from France... and she makes really good crepes - fun fact :) Ana was able to be confirmed yesterday before church. Her boss moved her schedule unexpectedly and she had to go in right at the same hour church starts, so we called bishop and he said she could be confirmed before she went into work. It was a beautiful blessing and she was happy that it all worked out and so were we :)

Other than getting pooped on by a bird this week, the week was pretty good :)

I hope you are all doing wonderful!

Setubal - Week 7

The week where I had 5 companions...

So that pretty much sums up my week. My companion, who was called as a member missionary, left so I was in a trio with the sisters I live with. Then they decided to have a sister whose companion had sugery be my companion for a few days, but she is leaving today and I am getting another companion and she is French which will be fun... crepessss 😉 ha ha

Even though there was a lot of change this week, ANA WAS BAPTIZED ðŸ˜„ She was able to take Sunday off of work so she could come to all of church and then be baptized after. It was pouring rain yesterday morning so we organized a ride for her with members that live on her street and they invited her to eat lunch with us after the baptism. She loved church and she was able to participate and share why she wanted to be baptized. The baptism was wonderful! She looked so beautiful in the dress and she told us when she came up out of the water she felt such a peace... and wanted to stay there a little longer. Lots of members stayed after church for the baptism even though it was a fast Sunday and we were all hungry. We did a special musical number for her and I played my Uke and we sisters sang :)

We had a family home evening with her, Aldo, and our members at the members house... and it was amazing. Aldo isn't a member and he wants to be baptized, but is wanting to put other things above it. Ana brought the spirit into the room so strong. She told him that when she was choosing to be baptized she just had to act, and that she knew that Heavenly Father would prepare the way for him. When we were leaving, I gave her a hug, and she started crying and thanked us for helping her find a new life. I am so very grateful for her... It is hard to express how I feel. I don't know if I believe that there is that one "someone" you are supposed to find on your mission, but I know that Ana changed my life. Heavenly Father´s plan is so perfect.

Setubal -Week 6

This week was incredible!

Ana didn't feel too prepared this week for baptism and had some things she had to resovle also before, but she is still on track and still has the desire! She is wonderful!

Rodrigo was baptized on Saturday and it was adorable. We went with him to deliver his invitations and were able to meet a lot of good people. He invited his best friend, Rodrigo, to come to the baptism. Double Rodrigos haha but he was so excited to show him around the chapel. A lot of his family came to the baptism and the primary did a special musical number for him. He asked us to make brigadeiros for him (brazilian treat) so we did and he was too excited showing his friend around to eat many haha. He recieved the gift of the holy ghost on Easter Sunday in sacrament meeting and was so happy and then after he gave his first talk about prophets in primary. He did such a good job and even shared his experience about praying to know if prophets were real. We went to his house last night and had a lesson with him and his mom and he taught his mom how to pray and did his talk for her. Then we asked him what his favorite scriptures were and he said "The articles of Faith!" and so he read them for his mom. He even prayed that she would come to church and helped his mom say the prayer at the end and she asked that Rodrigo would stay Firm in the church and in this path. I am so very grateful for the many blessings the gosple brings!!

I love you all

Setubal -Week 5

This week was just so good!!!

Ana came to church again this week! We hadn't been able to meet with her this week because she had to work a lot, but we were able to meet with her just this morning! We started talking and she said she tried to talk to her boss to have Sunday off so she could come to the other classes because she really likes it, but her boss wouldn't let her. So she applied for a different job where she has less hours, but she will be able to stay for longer on Sunday. She told us how good she felt after our first lesson 2 weeks ago, and has been reading the Book of Mormon. She even prayed with the people she works with and invited one of her colleagues to church. She is already a good missionary and isn't even a member yet! haha but we started talking about baptism and she said she knew it was something serious. That you don't get baptized and then just leave after a little while. So we were a little nervous when we extended the invitation because we were thinking she would say she wasn't fully prepared yet... And she did. So we talked about goals and when she could, and she accepted to be baptized in 2 weeks so she could let her work know. But then we just kept feeling like she was prepared and she told us that she had a day off this week on Thursday, so we invited her to be baptized on Thursday. She kind of just sat there thinking... and the silence went on and then she was just like "Pode ser pode ser!!!" which means "yes!" haha and she got really excited. So Ana is preparing to be baptized this week. I feel like we didn't do anything... she is just completely prepared. She told us, "So... I had been researching  your church on the internet and I saw that we couldn't drink tea, coffe, or alcohol, and I just wanted to know why we can't drink teas?" And so we explained and she committed to live the word of wisdom. She really is just so prepared and will be a big leader in the church! I am so grateful that we have the opportunity to teach her and she will be confirmed on Easter Sunday!

So the first Picture. This is Rodrigo... (the little boy). He is 10 and we found him while we were knocking doors and he started talking to us outside and he had already wanted to be baptized because he has family that are members. Rodrigo is going to be baptized on Saturday and he is super excited too! He came to our family home evening we had at the church and he was asked to give the opening prayer. He got really really nervous and walked up to the front and gave a wonderful prayer! He is very prepared too and asks very good questions for a 10 year old. His family is supporting him and they are all coming to the baptism too. The guy with him in the picture is Tiago, our ward mission leader who is basically Rodrigo´s best friend. Rodrigo seriously loves him. He is going to give his first talk in primary on Sunday the day he gets confirmed and Tiago is going to help him out.

I continue to wonder at the greatness of our Heavenly Father. We have worked so hard this transfer and we weren't seeing very many results, but we kept going and kept working hard and we didn't give up in that Heavenly Father knows what he is doing. I am so grateful to be doing the best work on the planet!!!! I am so grateful to be able to remember this Easter Week and the ressurection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is true that he "descended below all things, in order that He might raise others above all things." I know he our Lord and I'm so grateful for his eternal sacrifice.

I love you all

Setubal -Week 4

This week I feel overwhelmed with gratitude to be a missionary. I'm grateful to be a servant in the hands of the Lord, but especially to see the changes and the happiness from the gospel. Especially the hope. Let's start with Ana. The elders contacted her and we went to teach her. She is from Brazil and is adorable! She talked with some sisters on the street about a year ago and they told her if she was able to stop smoking then things would start to change in her life. They invited her to church but she had no time to go. We went to teach her this week and she told us this and then told us that she had been able to quit smoking completely 2 weeks earlier. She told us that she knew things were starting to change in her life and that the message that we shared, she felt something. A happiness and a peace. She started crying and I felt just grateful to be in that moment. I feel as if we didn't do anything... but I am just grateful I got to see it. She came to church yesterday and she loved it! This week was a lot of walking around... we had a lot of plans fall, but in the end we had 5 investigators in church. 3 of which was their first time. I am so grateful for the Work of the Lord!

I love you all!

Setubal - Week 3

This week we did alot of working with the members. We are currently teaching a couple people who don't believe in God which is actually very interesting and I feel like I am growing from all of the studying haha. We are also teaching this elect guy, Aldo who we hope will be baptized soon! Life is good here as a missionary :) sorry this is so short....
